Technical Seminar

The technical seminar will included a review of the Pennsylvania solid waste regulations, as they pertained to geologic and hydrogeologic permit application requirements and operating requirements. This portion of the presentation primarily focused on the hydrogeologic investigation, groundwater, and leachate sampling and analysis requirements of 25 Pa. Code Chapter 273.

There were also discussions of best practices for groundwater and surface water sampling; the importance of submitting a complete chain of custody; sample acceptance at the laboratory; sample extraction, analysis, and data review; and what Quality Control means for the data.

Following the morning presentations, participants visited the WM Valley Landfill for an onsite demonstration of proper groundwater sampling techniques.

Participants then visited a Pace Analytical laboratory for a tour of the facility.
